Kitchen revamp, before and after pictures

Being an army wife, the houses are somewhat a let down at times with being dated and not your style. It’s hard to get the house to feel like home without needing to do anything major as when you march out (move) it needs to go back how it was. Our postings are every few years, so don’t want too much money spent on a house we may only be in for a year, but then we could be in it 3 years. Need to find the happy medium.

So i decided enough was enough and i was going to start decorating the house more. The living room was done quite quickly from when we moved in. Wallpapered one wall and got matching curtains etc for the colour scheme i picked. This is our 4th posting, and the first house we have got stuck in on the decorating. I say ‘we’ but i actually mean ‘me.’ The husband wouldn’t really do anything if he could get away with it, which he has done the past 3, but no more!

I have no before pictures of the living room as we arrived here when i was 35 weeks pregnant with Jess (2yr old, how the time flies!) so it was decorated, then straight into newborn and 2 kids to deal with.

Sorry for the darkness on one picture the sun was too bright to take a better shot. This was took sometime ago, and Jess as you all know has grown since this shot! The 3 hearts at the back of the sofa was handmade by myself also 🙂

The next room to tackle was the kitchen, this got done last month, still not 100% complete. Need a green clock, but found none that stand out to me that i like and have pictured in my head. This revamp i do have before and after pictures for you all. I needed to ring up and ask the housing people if i was allowed to paint the kitchen cupboards and i got the go ahead aslong as done right and a natural colour. Was very happy to get the all clear. I chose the colour scheme of green. I did start to regret this though as it came apparent the most common colours for kitchens were red and purple when it came to getting accessories, but i got there in the end. Before and after shots:

Before: old cupboards, that had a few different colour splashes on them at the sides from previous people.

Testing out some colours, i went with the Wickes Lemongrass in the end, the lighter green, for anyone who is wanting the same colour.

Nearly complete and looks alot fresher and brighter in the kitchen/dining area now. So happy with it, shame we are due to move end of this year, but i am sure the next people to move will be happy that we painted the cupboards. Will definitely be bringing the idea onto the next house along with the green paint!

The table and chairs also got a makeover and the table was painted the same as the cupboards along with the chair legs. I have yet to get a cover for the kitchen table, but will put up pictures once that is complete.

This month is the bedroom, but i am struggling with this one. I have bought the bedding but finding it hard to pick curtains, it seems i have a shade of purple that isn’t ‘in’ at the moment. Why don’t i make these things easy for myself?
