Mothers Birthday cake

So not only was i doing the mothers birthday cake this weekend i was also doing the retirement cake  for dad. So i thought for the mother something simple and elegant.

I bought some of the silver and gold edible sprays a couple of weeks ago and this was the cake to test them on! I had previously tested a silver one on the Christmas penguin cake here but i done one and then someone sprayed the rest for me. Did i not confess that one the post, oops!

So i decided on light green sugarpaste for the cake to be topped with and found some vintage soft colours in my sugarpaste box to go with it and away i went, gold and silver balls around the bottom of the cake were formed.

The rest you will see from the pictures below:

Flowers with pearl edible beads and leaves. I did also have ‘Happy Birthday’ down the side that is plain, but i forgot to take a picture of it. Yes i did go too far with the gold spray, spraying the board, but i wanted to use it more and that was the only place left..
