Jessica is 2!

My littlest Princess is 2, how does time fly by so quick? How has my youngest got 2? I can’t get away with calling her my little baby now, she isn’t, she is my little toddler now.

For celebrating her birthday i thought i would share the day she was born with you all.

15h Jan 2011 and i was 7 days late, desperate for her to come out before she got too close to Thomas’ birthday (24th). I felt some braxton  hicks at 6pm, and was waiting for my tea to be done. I had a planned homebirth with the birth pool inflated in the living all ready for my water birth. My other 2 were quick labours, Thomas being 1hr 47mins, Amy 1hr 50, so we were expecting another quick one and thought it would be best to have the pool inflated so we could quickly get the water in it.

As i was eating my tea, i was debating if the braxton hicks were just that or labour. I couldn’t work it out, i used an app to time them and they weren’t regular yet. The time between was getting less but none were the same space between each other. I couldn’t each much of my tea, as i got about half way through it, i gave up, i just wasn’t hungry. At 7pm I finally realised it wasn’t braxton hicks it was infact labour! The last 3/4 ‘braxton hicks’ were around 2-3 minutes apart. They were now regular! I quickly get my notes out and ring the midwife to come on over, i got told she will be with us in around 15 minutes. Plenty of time i thought, but 5 minutes later, i realised i was actually close to the end. I had no time for the birthing pool to be filled so that got shot behind the settee. The kids got sent upstairs to play, my parents were meant to be here to keep them occupied, and they were on there way into the 40 minute drive after i rang the midwives.

Midwife arrived at 19:15pm, she said she will check how far i am and asked the hubby to get the halogen heater on to keep baby born once out. So Darren set to work fixing that together while the midwife was looking at notes and putting on her gloves. At 19:19pm Jessica made a water flute entrance coming out with my waters and landing on the floor. Everything happened So quick, i gave 1 push and there she was, on the floor, a tiny little baby crying. Both the midwive and husband had missed her entrance but turned as soon as they heard her cries, finding her on the floor. The midwive quickly scooped her up and put her on my chest under my top for the skin to skin and warmth.

She was a perfect dinky 6lb 6.5oz.
