and the love of pushchairs…

My blog states this at the top and yet i havn’t given a blog post to it or even talked about them! Shock horror! I should be ashamed of myself.

I have had many pushchairs in the 5yrs of using them with the 3 kids. Heres to name but a few:

Mamas & Papas aria, Mamas & Papas Cybex Callisto, Jane powertwin, Phil & Teds double, Maclaren XLR, Maclaren XT, Hauck double, Hauck infinity, Mothercare pick and mix, Britax B-Agile, Stokke Xplory Evo (favourite of all!) and many more.

My current collection is my Stokke Xplory evo in purple two tone and 2 Mamas and Papas Cybex Callisto, although one is up for sale.

My most favourite one of all is my beloved Stokke Xplory!! Nothing can ever replace this bad boy. I think i may actually cry when it is time to give it up for sale when Jessica is too old. ( Would i get away with pushing the dogs in it instead?) Those who don’t really think highly of pushchairs must think i’m bonkers. It is a pushchair only after all? No No No!! It isn’t just a pushchair. It’s like someone saying a Ferrari is just a car, no different to a Nissan Micra. It is. Of course it is.

What i love about pushchairs. There are so many. Different looks/colours/designs/uses. I like the look of the awkward/quirky kind, i like to be different with my choices. The main reason i like the Xplory so much is the height of the pushchair, while other kids look at the feet/legs of people, Jessica is actually able to look at the peoples faces easier. She can say ‘Hello’ to the cashiers at the shops. Can see over fences and walls, while others have a great wall view. She can even press the button for the green man, where others need to lift pushchair with child in to get them to press it, or get the child out. It’s a whole different world in the Stokke Xplory. The height is so good you can use the pushchair as a highchair at restaurants, cafes. The child can still interact from the pushchair without having to try and find a highchair that may not exist. Jessica is usually on the heighest setting but you can move the height up and down and child can sit lower.
Another reason, it’s parenting facing, love parent facing. The hubby once got the pushchair out the car and put it forward facing it lasted 5mins before i had a paddy and Jessica was put parent facing, i couldn’t hack it!
The hood is fabulous and big and opens up in the warmer weather to let ventilation happen. I havn’t actually used this much, being in the UK, not much sun around here!
The handle height moves up and down, suitable for short and tall people, easily moved with a pull of a lever on the handle. It has come in very handy when squeezing into a lift, people look at me and think she’ll never get that in here. Though behold, i get in, handle down and moved inwards, ta da! Magic.
I could quite easily bore the socks off you talking about this pushchair, but it is the bees knees.

I have just had my Stokke Xplory fixed, unfortunately got bent wheels. Customer service is fab. They get a courier to pick up yours for repair and swap it for a loan one so you can still use the pushchair. Once fixed the same happens, courier gives your repaired one back and they take the loan. Couldn’t ask for more! At the school run will be testing out the new back wheels, shame it has rained most of the day, won’t look new for long. You pay for the brand, but also the service, which is worth every penny. You get a fabulous 3year warranty, which is great seen as mine is a 2010 model.

A few pictures of our time with the Stokke Xplory:

Even fits in the boot without folding, bonus!
